What is Redox Signaling?

by Mike on April 5, 2010

We have been talking about Redox Signaling and the benefits for athletes using a Redox signaling supplement in their training. The question that gets asked is “What is Redox Signaling and is it real?”  I thought long and hard about how to answer this question and decided that it is something you need to investigate for yourself to determine if the science is real.  Sure you can take my word for it or you can find other blogs that either promote or attempt to ridicule it.  What I suggest is you determine for yourself, like I did, if its real.   How do you do that?  Start investigating, here are a couple of prudent steps I took:

  • Google terms such as “Redox Signaling” and “Redox Biochemistry”.   If you are like me you will find articles, books, and websites discussing the science.
  • Visit Amazon.com and search for “Redox Signaling” and “Redox Biochemistry”  There are several books on the topic from reputable authors.  Some that caught my attention where Redox Biochemistry and Methods in Redox Signaling

Review the product descriptions for these books and better yet if your serious read them. The product description for   Methods in Redox Signaling states that it is the first and only comprehensive handbook on the experimental methods used to study redox signaling. Formally recognized as destructive mechanisms, reactive oxygen species (ROS) have now been recognized as saviors by protecting the cells through redox signaling.

Another great book is The Science of Healing Revealed, New Insights into Redox Signaling written by Gary L. Samuelson, Ph D. This 58-page book outlines some emerging cutting-edge science related to the role that redox signaling plays in the healing process.

Dr. Gary L. Samuelson, Ph.D. in Atomic/Medical Physics, devotes his career and knowledge to the advancement of promising technologies addressing the major health concerns facing us today.  He works as an independent science consultant to a variety of companies in the nanotechnology and the health science industries.

Recently Dr. Samuelson was invited and will be speaking at the 18th Annual World Conference on Anti-Aging Medicine and Biomedical Technologies, sponsored by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M). The A4M event is the largest and most influential preventive medicine conference in the world, and the source for the latest in biomedical technology innovations. Dr. Samuelson will address the conference on the anti-aging properties of Redox Signaling molecules.

One last step to take to see for yourself:

  • Order some ASEA and try it for yourself.  The corporation offers an 30 day empty bottle money back guarantee so what have you got to loose?

ASEA is a non-toxic, perfectly balanced mixture of Redox Signaling molecules, similar to those constantly produced by all living healthy cells. ASEA enhances and activates the native antioxidants needed to protect and detoxify the cells and at the same time supplements the signaling molecules needed to repair or replace damaged cells and restore healthy tissue and immune function.

Good question Baker

ASEA is absorbed quickly through water absorption channels in the soft tissues of the mouth, esophagus and stomach lining. The Redox Signaling molecules in ASEA are able to survive the harsh acidic environment of the stomach for several minutes. Traces of residual Redox Signaling molecules have been found in the blood hours after ingestion.

Question. Why doesn’t stomach acid damage the redox signaling molecules? I have noticed on the bottle it is not recommended to drink directly from the bottle because saliva has an adverse effect.
